Painting

This week I tried a new activity with my son. I let him "paint". I mixed some food coloring into some pudding. He liked eating it more than actually painting.

Dinner & Dessert

Two other hobbies I have are cooking and baking. I’ve enjoyed cooking since I was in about 8th grade. I’d willingly cook 1 night a week for the family. For a brief moment in college I thought about going into culinary arts, but I did not. Ironically, most of the jobs I've ever had have been in food service.
Nowadays I don't mind cooking, most nights, as long as I can cook something new a few times a week. Last night, I decided to make Pasta Carbonara. I've never made it or eaten it. It was pretty good and it was super easy to make.

I also made dessert last night, which is not an everyday occurrence. I've been wanting to make a cake from scratch but I opted for something a little easier last night (I'll save the cake for another post). I made Carrot cake cheesecake bars, I got the recipe off Pinterest.  Personally, I didn't think they were "cheesy" enough.

Cherry Blossoms

Perfect temperature today to head to downtown D.C. to check out the cherry blossoms before the festival starts this week. I'd much rather go before the festival starts so at least we can walk around the tidal basin without bumping into a bunch of people. The blossoms are out and almost at their peak, much earlier than predicted. I think today may have been the perfect day to go.
I am still not sure as to what setting to use my camera on while outside. Today I mostly used the foliage setting and I am disappointed in the shots that are not closeups. The sun was very bright so I was torn as to which setting to use since I was photographing trees.  I'm pleased with only a few.

Spring

Spring has become my favorite season, the weather is finally getting nice and  everything is coming back to life. The weather has been beautiful here in Maryland this Spring. Last weekend my little family and I went to Brookeside Gardens in Wheaton, Maryland.

Exposed

I am a novice at photography, well sort of. I've always enjoyed it. I had an "old school" camera back in high school and I would go out and take nature pictures. It's always been a hobby of mine. I've decided to pursue it a bit more now that I am a stay at home mom. I have some time on my hands and I need something to make me feel useful.
I recently purchased a Canon PowerShot ELPH 300 HS with 12.1 megapixel, so that is what I am using in this blog. I have yet to figure it out completely.  I like it so far.

I'm being brave taking a shot of myself without makeup on and posting it.
I love looking at black and white photos of people of just their face. It allows you to see who they really are. You may be able see the struggles, joys, thoughts and truth in their face.
What do you see in my face?

Passion

Passion:  a strong liking or desire for or devotion to some activity, object, or concept; an object of desire or deep interest.
I am not passionate about anything.
Maybe I am too realistic? Cynical? Maybe something is holding me back? Or maybe I just haven't given it much thought. No, scratch that, I've given it tons of thought. I've struggled/wondered for years ,thinking about what I am good at, and what I LOVE to do. It dawned on me when someone said they figured out their calling by what made them feel calm and peaceful. Totally makes sense, why didn't I think of that?
My Passions
traveling
photography
These  things along with being by the ocean or Lake Superior give my soul a sense of calm. My soul is peaceful.  If only I could do these daily maybe I would be more content. Realistically, I cannot travel everyday, but I can take pictures everyday.
This is my journey.
