On the Shores of Lake Superior

I am finally getting around to editing my pictures from almost a month ago! (Slacking, again)

Over Memorial Day weekend we ventured to the Porcupine Mountains,  for a weekend of camping. We watched the weather for MONTHS, knowing it would change often. The very first time we checked it it said rain... which I did not want to deal with for 2 nights/3 days of camping. We kept an eye on it, it changed a number of times , even changes during the same week. It was nice, no rain and sun, back to some rain, on it went . It even changed the NIGHT BEFORE. Luckily, I grabbed more clothes for the kids before we left town (you never know in the U.P) because it ended up raining. The very 1st forecast back in March was right after all.  We were wet and chilly for 1/2 a day and a night. IT sucked. I was about ready to throw in the towel on camping all together. Did I mention we didn't have any extra shoes? Fun stuff having to wear wet shoes the next day.  So you live and you learn, right? The rest of the weekend was beautiful.  I no feel hatred toward tenting it.
I snapped a bunch of pictures so I will have a few blog entries!  Lake Superior is up first because that was MY highlight of the trip.

Jay Cooke State Park, Minnesota

Another stop on our Duluth trip over the summer was to Jay Cooke State Park. I am so glad my Aunt brought us to it, it was beautiful! I hope to some day return and venture farther than the bridge.

Childhood Joy

I love having children and seeing things through their eyes and watching them having fun. I  love to watch the pure joy on my children's faces when we are having a good time. It's so innocent and liberating. If only we could be this way as adults.
If they see a puddle, they want to run through it and enjoy it.  That's just what I let my son do on our trip to Duluth a couple months back.

Train, Train.

We didn't take my road trips this summer like we normally do. Our quick, spontaneous adventure to Duluth was really the only "trip" we took this year. We went to Duluth  for the Day out with Thomas adventure for my older son.
These photos aren't from the Day Out with Thomas part, so don't worry ;) , these are from inside the train.

Butterfly House 2015

I am so behind on my photos to put on my blog. Not only am I behind, I haven't been taking many lately either.
Anyway, these photos were taken at Beaver Creek Reserve, back in July. We went on a family outing to the butterfly house, which is always interesting.

Putnam Park

Earlier this summer we ventured over to Putnam Park. We didn't even know about it till a few weeks prior while I was taking  a walk on the other side of the river and noticed a small waterfall.  Eau Claire is full of surprises!

Ontonagon, MI Labor Day Classic Car Show 2014

I don't like to fall too behind on putting recent/relevant pictures on my blog but I recently made time to go through ones from the end of summer. Here are some from the Classic car show in Ontonagon, MI for the Labor Day festivities. Last year I didn't have a chance to take any pictures of the show so I really wanted to get some this year. I am not a huge car fanatic by any means but I do find some cars nicer than others and I think looking at old cars is fun.

Mushrooms on Logs

I've always found mushrooms growing on logs neat. I think it is because when I was little my mom would find huge mushrooms that she could paint or draw on. I remember her collecting them, and she may have  ever only drawn on one of them though, but I thought it was the coolest thing ever. So whenever I see giant tree mushrooms in the woods I think of her.

Old Trucks

My dad has a lot of random things laying around his property and these are just some of the old items he has.
Over the Summer, I loved being able to share time with my son in the place that I grew up, letting him explore just like I did when I was little.

Adventures around the Keweenaw

The Copper Country of the U.P. of Michigan sure is beautiful, if you love nature and unique landscapes I suggest you pay a visit! Growing up in that area I never realized just how unique the area is. Last month when I visited I saw it with "new" eyes since it has been awhile since I had more than a weekend to visit. My dad, brother & sons took a ride to the Keweenaw, to Eagle River.  I didn't get nearly as many pictures as I would have liked. I keep saying I need to do a "tour" of the Copper County and I never get around to doing it! I need to make the time, sooner rather than later.
