Tractor

Many memories run through my mind when I see this tractor. My dad has had it since I was a little girl,  I helped him haul wood & snow plow with it for years.

B & W Self Portraits

I really don't like taking pictures of myself, or having them taken. I get this from my Grandma Irma, she hated getting her picture taken. But, since pictures are memories I think it is important to have your picture taken as much as you may hate it.

Love

Warning; this post mixes an issue with photography.

Well, since this is a photo "blog" I figured I'd write about a subject along with the photos for today. Honestly, I don't know where to start! Deep breathe & think...

Breastfeeding (feel free to skip the reading if you aren't interested)

Breastfeeding is a normal and natural part of life. Like so many woman I started it thinking, "oh this is going to be so easy since it's natural." Wrong! It is not that easy, at least it wasn't for me. In the beginning, I didn't feel a special bond with my son while doing it either like all the books said. Truthfully, the first 6 weeks I felt like a cow since I breastfed my son on demand. Since he was 9lbs 11oz at birth, believe me, he nursed A LOT. There were times I wanted to give up, but I knew it was beneficial to him and I kept thinking of the cost of formula. I am super-cheap, so I didn't stop.
We’re still going strong, almost 17 months later. No, I am not a bra-less hippie that doesn’t shave. I’m a regular mom.  It is "normal" to breastfeed for the first 6-12 months, but after that in our society it's almost looked down upon if you nurse after a year. People stare, make comments, think gross things or even say gross things about it. Breastfeeding is more than just nourishment, it's bonding, comfort, a boo-boo fixer. It's LOVE. This is why I couldn’t just stop breastfeeding once he hit a year old. When will I stop? I am not sure.

Crisp, Fall Sunrise

The sky was painted with gorgeous colors this morning, so I went out and took some shots. I froze, it was only 24 degrees this morning!
I played with the settings on the camera, not too thrilled about some of the shots. Just goes to show I still have a lot of things to learn. But, practice makes perfect, right?

Sunday Drive One : Horses

I love taking drives, I think I like it so much because I did it growing up. We usually don't have a destination in mind, we just drive. It's never really that far, but it's always a good time.
Last weekend we headed South out of Chippewa Falls towards Eleva. The entire ride I didn't see anything photography worthy so I was  glad I saw these beautiful horses on our way back home.

Fall

I enjoy Fall, the changing of the leaves and the cooler days and nights after a hot summer, but I hate the fact that the next season is Winter. I HATE winter. And I so do not look forward to my 1st Midwest winter in 5 years.
My sister and niece visited recently so my Mom, Step dad and sisters came to town so we had a family photo shoot at Irvine Park in Chippewa Falls.
